Safety in Photogrammetry

Capturing measurements of a client site can vary from straight forward to complex. Multiple protrusions and other site limitations can make the data capture both time consuming and difficult.

By harnessing a precision imaging laser scanner, No Bolt are able to provide a realistic 3D overview of the proposed access solution in position against the plant. This allows clients to better evaluate the solution with end-users by delivering a presentation that portrays the proposed solution more clearly than a traditional 2D or even 3D without the solution deployed.

Using this photogrammetry technology, both No Bolt and our clients are better able to address potential issues prior to manufacture. These techniques enabled the teams to:

  • Validate the workflow with the end-users and provide them with the opportunity to provide feedback on the scaled model before production.
  • Test fit the proposed concept in a virtual space rather than manufacture, fit and risk further modifications risking cost blow outs.
  • Undertake a more detailed risk assessment prior to commencing production.
  • Reduce the risk of a fall from height.
  • Reduce the risk of damage to plant.

Photogrammetry is the process of taking precise measurements by using digital pictures and coded targets. For 3D scanning purposes, the coded targets and reference markers in the picture frame serve as anchor points where scans can be aligned to. Photogrammetry ensures extremely accurate scan data.

Please speak with a Sales Engineer about how we may be able to use this technology in your business.

Below is a quick flythrough of our facility (Factory 2).  We undertook 7 rapid scans in less than 7 mins to create the point cloud. We can use this technology to map hangars and maintenance bays to determine the impact of new GSE and height safety equipment.
